In its 15th edition, the Manchester Pride is known for being one of the oldest stops in the UK. The parade took place on Saturday (25/08), but the festival started on Friday (24/08) and celebrated diversity in style.
O Manchester Pride Festival had its first celebration in 1985, but only in 1989, with a musical festival called Celebration of Gay and Lesbian Diversity, that the city began to give priority to the event. And only at the close of the 2003 Manchester Gay Parade, when the city also hosted the Europride, is that the event came to be called Manchester Pride.
The Festival comprises three major events. O The Big Weekend (festival at Manchester Gay Village), a huge show for everyone to enjoy together. This year the main highlights were: Rita Ora, Jake shears, Sigala, Alexandra Burke, Nadine coyle,Louise, Pete Tong e Ana Matronic.
The Parade made its way through the streets of central Manchester and was attended by almost 5000 people. This year's theme was "Circus of Acceptance", the idea came from the film "The Greatest Showman” which has as its context exactly the acceptance of different people.
And Candlelit Vigil (vigil held in Sackville Park), which is practically a sea of sails to remember those we lost to AIDS. A moment of reflection and alertness to combat the global epidemic.
Throughout the festival the bars, pubs e clubs locals have prepared a special schedule to welcome locals and tourists.
