Ceará - Where sun, sea, and culture meet

In Ceará, the sun shines more than 300 days a year, the ocean dances with the wind, and the culture carries the joyful heartbeat of Brazil’s Northeast. This is a land where beaches stretch beyond sight, cities pulse with art and music, and inland landscapes reveal hidden wonders.

With more than 570 miles (900 km) of coastline, Ceará is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in Brazil — from the world-famous Jericoacoara, with its postcard-perfect sunsets, to the lively shores of Fortaleza and the untouched charm of Canoa Quebrada. Inland, its landscapes shift to dramatic cliffs, freshwater lagoons, and rolling sand dunes, making it a destination of endless variety.

Feel It, Don’t Explain It

The Brazilian state of Ceará is a place where golden dunes meet turquoise waters, where every horizon is painted with sunshine, and where the spirit of the Northeast beats strong in its music, flavors, and traditions.

Ceará’s identity is deeply rooted in the warmth of its people. The Cearense hospitality is legendary — every visitor is welcomed like an old friend. From fishermen guiding you through mangroves to artisans sharing their craft in small villages, every encounter is infused with genuine joy and generosity.

Nature here is raw, powerful, and diverse. Endless beaches, massive sand dunes, crystal-clear lagoons, and constant ocean breezes make it a paradise for water sports like kitesurfing and windsurfing. Inland treasures include the lush Serra de Baturité and unique rock formations of Ubajara National Park. Every turn reveals a new side of Brazil’s extraordinary biodiversity.

Ceará’s cuisine is a feast for the senses. Fresh seafood, tropical fruits, and regional specialties like peixada cearense, baião de dois, and tapioca showcase the state’s rich culinary heritage. Street markets and beachside barracas serve dishes that tell the story of the land — flavored with history, creativity, and a touch of spice.

From the vibrant rhythms of forró music to colorful folk festivals like Ceará’s Carnival and Festa Junina, culture here is lived in the streets, squares, and stages. The capital, Fortaleza, is a hub of contemporary art, theater, and design, while smaller towns preserve traditional crafts like lace-making and wood carving.
